On macOS, how do I turn off Apple News notifications?

Open up System Preferences
Click on notifications in the preferences panel
On the left hand side of the notifications panel, you should see News.
Slide the "Allow Notifications from News" control to the left by clicking on it (see figure below)
You may also want to turn off screen time notifications while you have this panel open
Close the panel
